Criminal Records
The Criminal Justice Information Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol is the primary custodian of state-wide criminal history record information. Like the CJIS, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office maintains and disseminates criminal history records of county residents, and also conducts background checks on request. Eligible persons may obtain criminal records and/or background checks at the state or county level.
How to Get Criminal Records
The Records Division of Jefferson County Sheriff's Office processes requests for criminal history records and background checks. The records provided by this division will only include arrest records and conviction information of persons within Jefferson.
Interested parties are required to make in-person queries at the headquarters, the north, or the east zone in order to obtain criminal records or request a background check. However, it is advised that supplicants call to confirm the availability of personnel before visiting either of the zonal locations.
Note: Requestors would be expected to present a valid driver's license as well as a fee of $5 to process each request. Only cash and cheque payments are accepted.

How To Get Police Reports
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office generates and issues police and arrest reports to all members of the public excluding listed suspects.

Requestors would be charged a $5.00 fee per each report requested, and required to present a valid photo ID to validate the query. The office will only receive cash or cheque payments and will process requests within 10-14 business days.
How to Find the Sex Offender Registry And Other Sex Offender Information
The MSHP Sex Offender Registry, managed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, houses information regarding all sex offenders resident in Missouri. Interested members of the public may access information on Jefferson county sex offenders using the registry. Offenders may be searched by name, county, tier level and proximity to specific locations. In addition, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office provides relevant information on registered sex offenders within the county.
How to Find Inmate And Jail Information
The Jail Division of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office manages information regarding current detainees of the Jefferson County Detention Center. Interested persons may obtain booking and jail information by querying the County Sheriff's Office or by using the Missouri Department of Corrections Offender Search Tool, which provides information about all current inmates in all correctional facilities across the state. Requestors would need to know the Doc ID, or the first and last name of the detainee to use this tool, the wild card search is not allowed.

The Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services is the central repository of state-wide vital records. Interested persons may access divorce, marriage, death or birth records by querying the Missouri DHSS or county custodians. In Jefferson county, vital records are co-managed by the Jefferson County Health Department, the Jefferson County Circuit Clerk and the Department of the County Recorder
Where And How to Get Divorce Records
Records of divorces granted within the state of Missouri are maintained and issued by the Missouri DHSS. These records are certified statements, which only indicate the date and place of the divorce as well as the names of the former spouses. To obtain certified copies of divorce decrees interested persons are required to query the Jefferson County Circuit Clerk.

Certified marriage statements of marriages licensed within the state of Missouri are managed and disseminated by the Missouri DHSS. However, only the Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds can issue certified copies of marriage licenses.

The Jefferson County Health Department processes requests for death and birth records of deaths and births within the county.
Only eligible persons can request and access birth or death records. Eligible persons include the registrant, close family members, law-enforcement agents/agencies as well as court-approved persons.
