Criminal Statistics
According to data published by the Missouri State Statistical Analysis Center, Jasper County law enforcement agencies recorded 5,724 index crime offenses in 2017. A closer look at the data revealed property crimes to be the leading subset of offenses, with incidents of burglary, arson larceny and motor vehicle theft accounting for 91% of reported offenses in the 12-month span. Law enforcement agencies also received 545 reports of murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault combined, making violent crimes the less popular crime subset. The agencies also made 883 index offense arrests, while 4,599 part II non-index arrests were made in the same year.
Criminal Records
While the Jasper County Sheriff's Office is primarily tasked with providing law enforcement services to county residents, criminal history records are managed by the Criminal Justice Information Services Division of the Missouri State Police Department. Thus, all requests for Jasper County criminal records and background checks may be made to the police department.
How to Get Criminal Records
All criminal record requests can be processed on The Missouri Automated Criminal History Site (MACHS). The site houses information of arrests less than 30 days old, records of misdemeanor and felony charges as well as details of dispositions and suspended impositions. However, the information provided to a requestor is primarily dependent on the type of check requested based on the authority of the requesting party.
Name-based checks or personal identifier searches require provides the requestor with criminal history information deemed to be an open record.
Requests for these records may be made through the MACHS site or by sending a completed Criminal Record Request Form via mail. Applicants will be required to provide the subjects name, date of birth and social security number, as well as pay a fee of $14 along - this excludes additional charges for a notarized letter and stamp/postage fees (if applicable)

On the other hand, fingerprint-based queries provide the requesting party with all criminal history information including closed records.
To obtain these records, the requestor must be an eligible individual or organization and must provide a completed applicant fingerprint card having the full fingerprint set of the subject. Requests can be made through the MACHS Fingerprint Search Portal or by scheduling an appointment with the approved fingerprint vendor of the Missouri State Police.
Fingerprint checks cost $20 aside fingerprinting fees and requests are processed in 8-10 days of making the query.
How to Find Sex Offender Information
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is charged with documenting sex offenders resident within county limits. However, all information regarding sex offender addresses, compliance status, and criminal histories are housed in the Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry. Interested persons may search offenders by name, city, address or by their proximity to specific locations within the county. Intending visitors are required to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the facility on each visitation day. Inmates are typically allowed one 15 minute visit per visitation day, with no more than three persons per party. Adult visitors will be required to present a valid ID before entering the center.

While the Detention Center home page features relevant information regarding inmate welfare and commissary, visitation as well as mail and phone contact details, Detainee-specific information can be retrieved from the online Inmate Roster. The roaster features each inmate's current charges, mug shot, arrest/booking information and bail or bond conditions (if applicable). Inmates may be searched by name, arrest date or booking number.

Where and How to Get Court Records
The Jasper County Circuit Court Clerk is responsible for retaining and disseminating all records and filings pertaining to court cases heard by the county courts. In compliance with Missouri state laws, the office processes requests for non-confidential records and issues the same to interested county residents.
Court records may be requested in person or via mail from the clerk's office. All requesters will be required to provide sufficient information with which to facilitate record search including the names of the victim(s), the defendant(s) and litigant as well as the date of filing and the case file number of the record (if applicable).
The requesting party will also be charged a standard search and copy fee and may be required to pay additional fees for certification (if required).

Where and How to Get Property Records
The Jasper County Recorder of Deeds Office is tasked with recording, maintaining and issuing records pertaining to land and real property ownership. Documents maintained by the office include deeds, plats, liens, land records and mortgage documents.
Most records can be obtained using the Deed Search Tool. However, some records may only be obtained by contacting the Recorder of Deeds office via mail or email. Online access requires a $200 per month subscription and will allow requestors self-serve using the online index. However, mail and email requests require that the requestor provide details of the property record required including its address, recording number, book and pages required and the date of the recording (if known).

Vital Records
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services serves as the central repository of vital records. The department processes statewide requests for birth and death certificates. At the county level, birth and death records are primarily issued by the Jasper County Health Department while marriage records are retained and issued by the Recorder of Deeds and divorce records by the Circuit Court Clerk. Essentially, Jasper county vital records may be accessed at state and county levels.

Records of divorces granted by the Jasper County Court are maintained and issued by the office of the court clerk.

Where and How to Get Marriage Records
Requests for marriage records are processed by the Jasper County Recorder of Deeds. The office is charged with issuing licenses and retaining records of marriage which it licensed.
All marriage record copies may be purchased online on the Recorder of Deeds Homepage. Requestors will be required to furnish the tool with information regarding the record including the names of spouses, the date and place of the marriage as well as the certificate number of the certificate (if known). Certified copies typically cost $10.50 which can be paid online via credit card. Records requests are processed within hours of the query.
Where and How to Get Birth and Death Records
The Jasper County Health Department maintains records of births and deaths which occurred within county limits, and provide copies of these records to interested and eligible persons upon request.
To be eligible to access a birth or death record, the requestor must be either named on the record or be a direct relative of the subject of the record. Otherwise, they must be a legal representative of either of the aforementioned parties or be authorized by a court order.

Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users are able to search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location, including the city, county, or state.
