Criminal Records

The Missouri State Highway Patrol serves as the central repository for all arrest record in the state. It also processes requests to view and/or copy public criminal history records. Members of the public may also request and access criminal history records for state convictions (within Greene County) from the Office of the Greene County Circuit Clerk.

How to get Criminal Records

The office of the Greene County Circuit Clerk responds to non-criminal justice requests for criminal records. Alternately, criminal history records may be obtained by querying the relevant municipal court for municipal convictions.

The Records and Warrants Division of the Greene County Sheriff's Office maintains and disseminates warrant and arrest records as well as incident reports.

How to Find the Sex Offender Registry and Other Sex Offender Information

All information about sex offenders resident in the state of Missouri is pooled and managed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol as required by law. The registry is availible for public viewing on the MSHP Sex Offender Registry website and interested parties may search for relevant information on offenders within Greene county and around specific addresses using the Search/Map offenders tool availible on the site.

How to Find Inmate and Jail Information

Information relating to inmate booking and jail details within Greene county is accessible to members of the public and is managed by the Greene County Sheriff's Office. Interested parties may access this information using the GSCOs Active Green County Jail Population Search Page which provides information of persons incarcerated at the time of the query. Searches can be conducted using the detainees name or booking date.

Where and How to get Court Records

The office of the Greene County Circuit Clerk processes requests for county-level court records. Records which have been deemed public as per state laws can be accessed by interested parties through the Circuit Clerk's office or using the Missouri State Courts Automated Management System.

Vital Records

The Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services is the primary custodian of state-wide vital records. Interested parties may access these records by querying the Missouri DHSS or petitioning relevant agencies/offices at county level. In Greene county, vital records are co-managed by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department and office of the Greene County Circuit Clerk

Certified divorce statements are maintained and issued by the Missouri DHSS. However, this statement only includes the names of registrants, and the date and county of divorce - where the divorce was recorded.

Certified marriage statements may also be obtained by querying the Missouri DHSS. However, these marriage statements will only include the names of the spouses as well as the date and place of the marriage.

Where and How to get Birth & Death Records

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department maintains and issues birth and death records for births and deaths within its jurisdiction.

In compliance with state records, these are not considered open record and cannot be accessed by members of the public. Access is strictly limited to;

  • The registrant.
  • Parents, grandparents, siblings, children or legal guardian(s) of the registrant.
  • Law enforcement agencies.
  • Court-approved persons.

Requests must also be accompanied by a government-issued ID or any of the acceptable identification documents for verifying the identity of the requestor.

In addition to government agencies, county public records may also be obtained from third-party websites. These non-government platforms come with intuitive tools that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users are able to search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location, including the city, county, or state. Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.
