St. Louis County Property Search
The County Recorder of Deeds is responsible for maintaining all property documents in St. Louis County, Missouri. St Louis property documents refer to all property and property ownership records, including deeds of trust, easements, mortgages, assignments, and trustee's deeds. In St. Louis County, property records are considered a part of St. Louis County Public Records and are thus available to members of the public who request them. However, only recorded documents are usually available to be searched. Property documents must meet the following requirements to be recorded:
- The document size should be 8 ½ x 11" white, light-colored, 20# paper without watermarks or logos.
- One-sided print in black or dark ink
- The First page of each document should have a margin of top 3" space from left to right.
- All subsequent pages should have a minimum of ¾" margins.
- The first page of every document (excluding plats and surveys) must contain the document title, document date, grantor and grantee's names, legal description, any statutory addresses, and Reference book and page (if required)
- The minimum font size is 10-point, but non-essential information like form numbers, return addresses, and page numbers can be in 8-point
- The document must include signatures made with black or dark ink
- The signer's name must be printed or stamped beneath the signature
- All documents can be stapled for presentation, but avoid continuous forms or permanent binding
All documents that meet the Missouri Document Formatting Standards cost $24 for the first page and $3 for each additional page. However, documents not meeting the standards attract an additional $25 fee. All recorded property documents in St Loius County are public records. Are St. Louis County Property Records Public?

- Sale information (sale date, sale price, sale type, sale validity code-name, and book page)
- Other buildings and yard information (description, year built, units, total area, grade, and condition)
- Sketch (property sketch image, key, area, description, floor, and total living area)
- Tax info & receipt (tax year, tax, interest, penalties, other charges, total tax, amount paid and date paid, and tax rate information)
- Property taxes and tax History (tax year, owner name, tax code, sewer lateral fee, total assessed value, amount due, amount paid, and date paid)

Where to Perform a St. Louis County Property Lookup
The St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds provides access to property records online, by mail, or in person. Before a requester can obtain a copy of a deed, they must find the information about the property on St. Louis County's website. Look for the "Real Estate Information" tool and search. Online requests can be made via the Deed Search tools provided by third-party vendors. The first third-party vendor provides a downloadable application that professionals like title insurance firms and real estate agencies can only assess. The application will be processed within two business days. The applicant can download and install the search tool application from a third-party website. Begin the application and enter the User Name and Password included in the application form.
The second third-party vendor provides a tool for the occasional user to request property documents recorded in St. Louis County. The requester must know the property's locator number to search. Each search costs $6.95 and an additional $1 for each printed image. Payments can be made via credit card. The third vendor provides a deed search tool designed for professionals like title plants or real estate agencies. These professionals can receive property documents at a bulk rate.

The in-person requester must schedule an appointment using the deed recording scheduler to visit the Office. Individuals can schedule a date and time for them to visit. Appointments can only be made during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM) in one-hour time blocks. After scheduling an appointment, requesters could use the public workstations available at the Office to search for property records.
How to Perform a Property Owner Lookup in St. Louis County
A property owner lookup can be conducted online or in person at the St. Louis County Assessor's Office. Online requests can be made via the Real Estate Information tool available on the assessor's website. The search criteria are by locator number, property address, or subdivision name. Upon submitting the search, the property information, including owner name, will be displayed.
In-person requests can be made at the Assessor's Office. Requests must be made during business hours from Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Basic property information, excluding owner name, will be required to complete the search.

How to Find Property Owner by Address Free in St. Louis
The St. Louis County Assessor's Office has a Real Estate Property Search tool that used to find information about property owners. The requester can search by property address via this search tool. The street number, direction, street name, and suffix will be required to search. The search result will reveal property information, including the owner's name. A requester can also visit the Office to find property ownership information. Provide the property's address to the record staff and pay the necessary fees to retrieve the desired property record.
St. Louis County Property Tax Lookup
Prospective property buyers conduct tax lookups in St. Louis to check for outstanding tax bills on a property before purchasing it.
