St. Charles County Crime Numbers
The Missouri State Highway Patrol collates and provides crime data for all the counties in the state. Its latest annual reports are for 2018. These reports show that St. Charles County recorded 647 violent crimes and 5,327 property crimes that year. Compared to the 2014 crime numbers for the county, these figures represent a 38.3% rise in violent crime rate while property crime rate declined by 6.3%.
A closer look at the county’s 2018 crime statistics shows that there were 9 homicides, 96 rapes, 52 robberies, and 489 aggravated assaults. Reported incidences of property crimes include 489 burglaries, 4,445 larceny thefts, 369 motor vehicle thefts, and 24 arsons. The most recent five-year crime trend for St. Charles County reveals rising homicide (800%), rape (50%), aggravated assault (49.1%), and motor vehicle theft (89.2%) rates. On the other hand, robbery (28.8%), burglary (24.4%), larceny theft (7.4%), and arson (45.5%) rates fell between 2014 and 2018.
St. Charles County Criminal Records
The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol provides background checks for St. Charles and other counties in the state. It offers both name-based and fingerprint-based criminal history searches and can provide results for state and national (FBI) background checks. To order a name-based background check, visit the Missouri Automated Criminal History Site (MACHS) and click on the Name Search Portal. The CJIS charges $14 for each name-based background check ordered online or by mail. Make your check or money order payable to "State of Missouri, Criminal Record System Fund.
While name-based search only provides open criminal history records, CJIS’ fingerprint-based background check provides both open and closed records. You can also order this service online and by mail. If you opt to request a background check online, click on the Fingerprint Portal link on the MACHS webpage. To submit a mail request, send along a completed SHP-158 form, a completed applicant fingerprint card (FD-258), and payment to the CJIS address provided above. Each fingerprint-based background check costs $20 and the fee is payable in check or money order made out to "State of Missouri, Criminal Record System Fund”.The CJIS charges an additional $2 to notarize a name-based or fingerprint-based criminal history report.
St. Charles County Police Reports
The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Office provides court security, serves court documents, and transports prisoner. The various police departments of the cities and villages of St. Charles County fulfil primary law enforcement duties. St. Charles County Sex Offender Information
The Missouri State Highway Patrol maintains a central database containing identifying information about all registered sex offenders in the state. You can search the Missouri Sex Offender Registry to find registered offenders by name, date of birth, and tier level. Select St. Charles from the county drop-down menu to restrict your search to offenders living in the county. You can also find registered offenders living in your neighborhood by searching the registry with a zip code or street address in St. Charles County.
St. Charles County Inmate Search
A St. Charles County Inmate Search is performed by making in-person or online queries to the county’s detention facilities.
