According to a 2018 crime report by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Butler County reported eight violent crimes and 108 property crimes throughout the year. There were, in 2018, four reports of rape and aggravated assault, respectively. Of the property crimes reported, sixteen were burglaries, and 77 were cases of petty theft. Eleven cases of motor vehicle theft and five cases of arson were also reported during the course of the year. By the numbers, Butler County was relatively safe - compared to the rest of Missouri. How do I Visit an Inmate in Butler County Jail?

Butler County Jail is a medium-security level prison that is co-run by the county sheriff’s department and the state department of corrections. The jail houses offenders who are either awaiting sentencing or are serving short to mid-term sentences. All visitors to the prison must speak with the inmates through a glass partition. Inmates are permitted two visitors per day, and visitation hours are from 9 AM - 6 PM, Monday through Friday.

Inmates are permitted one adult visitor at any point in time. Visitors must come bearing valid, government-issued ID, and an adult must accompany visitors below the age of 18. All visitors are required to dress in clothing that covers sensitive body parts. Visitors are not permitted to arrive at the jail intoxicated or to carry weapons inside. Video visitations are also available for inmates via the prison’s online platform. Each video visit lasts approximately 15 minutes and costs $6 per visit.
